Mateusz fell in love with basketball thanks to his grandfather. It was he who instilled in him the gene of sporting competition by taking him, as a young boy, to basketball and speedway matches. The future captain of the Polish National Team saw in basketball a force that completely consumed his thoughts and captured his heart. Competition became his strength and motivation. He was rarely satisfied with the results he achieved. He always wanted more, which made it difficult for him to enjoy his successes.
